Shell Stitch Potholder

This is an elegant yet sophisticated pot-holder. Ever host a party? Then you'll know that even if you're in the kitchen most of the time you can still look elegant and stylish, especially handling hot pots!

Shell Stitch Potholder

Materials

Size I-9 crochet hook
Lion Brand Alpine Wool in 2 chosen colors.
Scsissors
Darning Needle
Imagination!


Pattern:

With main color:

Ch 4, sl st into 1st chain to close round. Ch 3, 2 dc in ring. Ch 2, 3 dc in ring. Ch 3, 2 dc in ring. Ch 2, 3 dc in ring. 1 sc in ch 3 sp to close round.

*Ch 2, dc in ea st until 1st corner. *Dc 2 in same st, ch 2, dc 2 STILL IN THE SAME STITCH. Dc in all of the other sts until next corner**. Rep from * to *** until you've completed each side and 4 corners.**

Rep from * to ** until piece is approx. 6 inches wide. Fasten off.

With other color:

Starting at a corner, *1 sc in ea st until you reach the 2st corner. 2 sc in same st, ch 2, another 2 sc IN THE SAME STITCH.** Repeat from * to ** until all 4 corners have been crocheted. Fasten off.

With main color:

Starting at a corner, *sc 2 sts, 7 dc in next st, sc in next 2**, rep from * to **. until you have 4 sts left. Ch 8, sk 4, 1 sc in ch 3 sp to close round. Fasten off.

With other color:

Work 1 sc into ea st, including all of the stitches in your *shell* (*7 dc in same st*).
Fasten off.
